Hey guys, I am having an issue with an external hard drive connected to my 2012 13" Macbook Pro.
Setup #1
-desktop PC with traditional BIOS
-3.5" internal hard drive in an enclosure and connected via eSATA (and AC powered)
Setup #2
-newer MBP with UEFI
-3.5" internal ahrd drive in an enclosure and connected via USB 3 (and AC powered)
Basically, on my desktop the external drive turns itself automatically on when I turn the PC on and the drive shuts it self off as well when I shutdown the PC from Windows 7 or Ubuntu 12.04. On my laptop connected via USB3 though, I have to first manually turn on the external drive (before starting the laptop) and then manually shut it off when I turn off the laptop. It does NOT turn itself on as the laptop is booting nor does the drive shut itself off when the laptop is shutdown. Any one have any idea's as to why?
