My computer is a Power Mac G5 single 1.8 GHz (2004)

I just got a SmartDisk 2x flopy drive for USB. I tried plugging it into my keyboard, but it said it was drawing too much power (not too strange).

But when I plugged it into my G5's front USB port, it did not work at all (!).
It ONLY works in the back USB, plus on my Sony Vaio laptop (XP Pro).

Any idea why it does not work in the G5's front port? Power restrictions??

Thanks.

No idea, all 3 USB ports are supposed to be USB 2, but if you look at them in Apple System Profiler they report back 12Mbps, not 480Mbps.

Some people have reported the iPod Shuffles don't work on the front port, but are ok on the rear ports.

Wish I could answer your question....
