USB Hard Drive Won't Mount

I just got a LaCie 320gb Porsche Design USB hard drive to use with airport extreme. I plugged it into my computer and nothing happened. I looked in the system profiler, and it recognizes that a hard drive is plugged in but the drive won't mount. The drive remains silent and it does not mount. I have several Lacie firewire drives and they always make a little noise when turned on. It seems like the hard drive is faulty on the new one. Any other ideas?

Is it recognised in Disk Utility? Could you force mount it from there (if it is recognised)?

nope, not recognized in disk utility. I sent it back to Lacie today, so hopefully they will get it working and have it back to me next week. I'm glad there was no data on it yet!
