I have a 2 year old time capsule (2TB 802.11n). I have a 2TB seagate drive connected to the USB port so I can access it wherever I am in the house.

However, the USB drive keeps dropping off the network. When I try to open it, it takes several minutes to find it again. Sometimes I even get the spinning wheel of doom and have to run killall Finder. This problem seems to effect everyone who uses the USB port for a hard drive.

1) Has this problem been solved yet?
2) Is there a fix or has it been fixed in newer time capsules?

A two year old AEBS means it's a 4th gen, same as I have. I don't have your problem though. I'm guessing it has to do with incompatibility between your drive's sleep mode and the AEBS/OS X.
