I got a 500gb time capsule last night and upgraded to the latest firmware as it asked me. The set up for the wireless went just fine and I was able to get my iPhone, Mini, Wii and aTV working just fine. I also was able to get my A/B/G gateway to work so I have a 2 tiered network set-up.
The main problem I am having is with USB hdd. I tried a 750 WD My Book Essential and it was able to boot and show in the shared drives list. But when I went to access it, it would lock up the TC and it would reboot itself. I tried this a few times and thought that it might be the drive itself as I have had problems with it before. So I moved that drive back to my Mini and it booted fine.
My next test was to move the 100gb drive I had been using as my Time Machine drive and hook it up. It again showed up in the shared drives list and I was able to access it. I then decided to remove its contents and dragged the one folder over to the trash. It began deleting and at about 80% it crashes and the time capsule locks up. I than have to hard reboot the device to get it back online.
Any ideas on what I could be doing wrong? Should I not try to do large file transfers over wireless? Could the TC be bad? Or is the latest firmware (7.3.2 IIRC) buggy?
thanks in advance for any help.
