I am finding I may need a USB hub to expand the only 2 usb ports on my laptop, can anyone recommend good ones that are not too expensive & portable? I will be plugging in external hard drives, thumb drives, maybe a printer & scanner.

Also I read somewhere that one of the usb ports on the macbook pro has a little more power? is this true? & which one? which one would be best to plug a USB hub into?

You may want one with external power. I use this. With the external hard drive, I'd take the extra power.

I've been using this Belkin 7-port USB Hub for a while now and I like it. I use it for an iMac though, but it's small and light enough for easy portability, I'd think.

Also, it can run with or without external power -- big plus when you don't want to haul around another power adapter.
