USB hub to thunderbolt

That would work, I am using a caldigit thunderbolt station (1st version with thunderbolt 1) to add USB 3 to my USB 2 equipped 2011 iMac.

A cheaper option would be the two new adapters from Kanex for under $80 on amazon, but be aware that they must be at the end of a thunderbolt chain.

There are two versions, one had USB & ethernet, the other has USB & eSATA.
