USB iBook sound card

A friend of mine asked if my 500 MHZ, dual USB iBook has a good enough sound card to make an audio cd sound excellent through a band's sound system. I said that I thought it would sound just as good as any cd player would sound through the same sound system. Does anyone know if I am right?

well, in real world terms, yes. (audiophiles start to scream at me...)
although the D/A logic in a iBook is probably not as good as in a, say, Denon DCD-1550AR (that thing has an alpha processor just for controlling the double D/A circuits), and it certainly has no gold plated connectors - in fact it not even has cinch connectors, so there may be some crosstalk; but apart from that... (read: you won't hear any differences unless you have invested some major $$ in the rest of your system...maybe piega loudspeakers, audio research amps, TEAC cd player, dCS D/A unit *droool*)
