USB is formatted Journaled Encrypted. Do I also need to encrypt Time Machine backups?

Hi,

I was just wondering if it's really necessary to also check the "Encrypt backup" option on time machine if you are already using a USB drive that was formatted as Journaled Encrypted.

Yep... as you discovered if you format to encrypted then select that as the TM destination you should see that the encrypted box is already checked in TM prefs. Same end result.
