USB keyboard does not get recognized after waking from sleep

I have the laptop in my signature. I use it with a wired USB keyboard and an Apple Magic Trackpad. When I put my laptop to sleep and then wake up the USB keyboard stops working. The keyboard has to be unplugged and replugged into my USB port for it to function again. A slightly annoying step I have to take everytime. How can I fix this so I don't have to do this and the keyboard works after waking from sleep?

(I am using Mavericks)

(I am using a program called KeyRemap4MacBook if it matters, the function keys and the modifier keys on the keyboard won't work properly)
