hi
Does anyone have any experience with the sandisk iXpand and the Leeds ibridge

Which is best?

Main use will be for transferring videos off someone else's laptop to my iPad Pro

Or for passing on video files to others

Thanks

Darren

I don't know about the Leeds ibridge, but I have tried many USB/lighting flash memory sticks. The first I bought wasn't compatible with an OS upgrade so that was useless. The second (and I bought 2 of these by mistake) were Logitech and were bulky. I then bought the Scandisk unit you mentioned. While I can use it, there is a problem with the iPad Air 2 cover I bought - hard to fit into the lightening socket. The best I have - and I would recommend to anybody, is the

Dash-i and Dash-i Plus MicroSD Reader for iPhone/iPad by Meenova

It's excellent especially with the microSD expansion option

PS and its soooo small

I assume you meant the Leef iBridge. I went through three of them about a year and a half ago and had lots of problems with videos not playing and device slowness (on an Air 2). I eventually gave up. I recently got a Meenova Dash-i Plus -

Works so well that I got one for my wife (I also have an Android micro USB version). I use a 256GB uSD card in it.

Hi
Yeah I meant the leef ibridge.
Basically I coach Wheelchair Rugby. When we have training camps we video the sessions throughout the day. They get put on a laptop and eventually uploaded to the internet. For speed and ease I want some of these videos and clips on my iPad to review and or show to players. So it needs to connect to the laptop then my iPad

Neat on the rugby - I played in college (Univ. of Wash.) 40+ years ago. Now I hate to think what all those concussions did to me ...

The Meenova will do that for you - that's basically what I'm doing. The videos can be played directly from the uSD card with their app - you don't have to copy them to the iPad for viewing. You'd need a uSD card reader for the laptop, of course. At $40, it's a good, cheap solution.

I'm looking for something like this that will allow me to save files from other apps to the external drive, and then re-open them in those other apps. Does this show up on the iOS picker so you can move a file to here from another app? And can you then open a file from this app with another app, or move a file from the external card back onto the iPad?

I have no need to use this for pictures or videos, but instead I want a good way to back up other types of files.

Yes, and I'll provide two examples. Dash-i is the Meenova app:

Example 1: In the FileBrowser app, I selected a file and chose "Share File" and "Import with Dash-i" was an option. Dash-i opened and allowed me to either Open the file (PDF) or Save it - Save gave the option of Internal app storage (Dash-i sandbox) or External. External opened the uSD file system and allowed me to choose a folder to save the file to.

Example 2: I select a .XLSX file in External storage with the Dash-i app and can choose to "Copy to Excel" (or I can view it with the Dash-i app or copy it to the local Dash-i sandbox).

Thanks mate!

Yeah, we played as a school club, not as a supported sport. Played other clubs, some from other universities, some independent. I loved the game though it cost me a fortune in reconstructive dentistry :) (and yes, I wore a full up and down mouthpiece).
