USB Memory Stick

It's formatted to MS 16 FAT (or something close to that) and as such doesn't actually let me delete anything from it. It's 250Mb and in Finder it shows it as completely empty but it says there is only 3Mb available.


What are my options? Obviously I'd like to format it for my Mac but then will it still work with Windows?

*I'm running: 10.4 with all the latest updates etc*

I'm not sure if this applies to you, but a common mistake is not emptying the trash while the USB drive is plugged in. If you don't do this, the stuff won't be accessible, but it also won't be deleted so it will just show up as wasted space.
