USB Modem powering off on Sleep

Im on Mavericks/Macbook Air

When the macbook goes to sleep it powers off my USB Modem, and after i log into osx i have to reconnect the connection.

Is there a way to keep the connection alive even after the macbook goes to sleep?

Nope. USB modems require constant communication with the driver on the computer. If the computer sleeps, the connection drops.

Look into a USB router like http://www.cradlepoint.com

i had similar problem with my wifi then i went through power setting and found the option for "on adapter" to keep the computer wake for wifi connection. since then whenever i wanna leave my macbook downloading i just leave it plugged into adapter. i don't know if this solves your problem too but might worth a shot.
