Hi.
I have a strange question - do bear with me as I elucidate.
1) I have a MacBook running Leopard connected to a Trendnet KVM switch
2) I also have a Fedora 10 machine connected to the KVM switch
Per the documentation for the KVM switch (corroborated by some posts here), the hotkey to switch between machines using a hotkey does NOT work on the Mac (it does for PC). The default Hotkey is "Scroll Lock, Scroll Lock 1" (or 2). On the USB Keyboard, Scroll Lock is mapped to F14, which is mapped to the "Display Dimmer". It is easy enough to unmap that, so as to free Scroll Lock (Sys Preferences). This, however, does not work with the switch hotkey.
From what I could gather, the switch 'watches' for the LED signal in the keyboard, and toggles upon trapping that (yeah - wtf?).
Now, on Fedora, hitting NumLock seems to trigger the switch because that causes the keyboard LEDs to toggle.
On the Mac, the only key that toggles the keyboard LEDs is the CAPS key. The Numlock key does NOT affect the LED on the keyboard. This doesn't work.
So, my question:
Do you know how I can get the NumLock key on a USB keyboard to turn on/off under Leopard? I'd like to have it toggle upon pressing/releasing keys.
Not sure if it will do the trick, but worth a try... I've seen questions all over the web, with no real solutions.
I feel that if we can figure out how to get the lights to toggle, the darn switch should do its thang...
Thanks in advance.
Randy
