I have a Mid-2012 Macbook Pro with 3 external HDDs. I also have about 3 or 4 USB hubs for various other elements, i.e., mouse dongles, Hi Def USB camera, chargers, etc. It is a real mess.

Some USB devices need to be "plugged directly into the Mac."

Is there such a thing as a USB Hub that is the same as "plugged directly into the Mac?" If so, can someone recommend a good one? If there is not such a thing, can someone recommend a a good 10+ port hub?

Thanks...

Anker makes 10-port and 14-port USB hubs like the one below... though I'm not sure if it's the same as "plugged directly into the Mac"

A hub is just that... a hub. And I think it identifies itself to the host computer as a hub.

You definitely want a powered hub... which these are. A lot of problems come from poor power delivery.

Though I'm not sure it will solve your "direct" connection issues.

Are you using a USB audio interface? I know there are problems connecting those through a hub.
