Hi,

I have an old (but loved!) 2006ish white Macbook.

I went to plug my Samsung Galaxy S5 into it the other day and found that it wasn't being recognised. My Galaxy shows that it is charging from the USB when plugged in so clearly there is power to the ports.

I've since tried to plug in a USB SD card adapter which was also previous working with my Macbook and that also fails to mount (there is a small red light on it which normally lights up when it mounts, but now only flickers on for half a second before going of again)

I have tried safe booting with the shift key, resetting the NVRAM (which I know has worked as I get the double boot sound) and have done the battery-remove method to reset the SMC (is there any way to tell if this properly reset???)

Any ideas?

I should point out that my battery died a while ago so my MB has to remain plugged into a socket for me to use it (which I don't mind) but I'm wondering if this is affecting the SMC reset etc.?

Thanks!
