I'm looking to order a cheap cable from monoprice.com that will allow me to transfer my data from my macbook pro HDD to the new one. I've been reading this guide here but I want to find a cheap cable. Is this what I should order for $8? If not can somebody post what I need to get from monoprice.com.

That will do it. $8 almost seems expensive though. I would think you could get a cheap external enclosure with this built in for less than $8.

But anyway, yes that cable is all you need.

Less is unlikely. That is the cheapest I have ever seen for any SATA->USB conversion. Besides, it is only $8. Is it really worth it to hunt around for hours trying to save yourself two bucks?

No I don't, but based on Wetrix, he's seen it cheaper. I think $8 is a fine price.
