Usb storage won't mount

Hi,

Since today, my usb flash drive and external hdd won't mount anymore, however, I am sure they both work (I've tested them on an other computer), and my usb port also works (my mouse works when it's plugged into it).

Also, it doesn't show up in disk utility...

I really hope someone can help me.

if bith are usb, maybe that port is dead.

have you tried a different usb port othe same mac?

Yes, I've tried both my usb ports, and my mouse is plugged into the usb port and works so they are definitely working...

How did you disconnect them the last time you used them with your mac?
Do they show up in disc utilities?

I always disconnected them by dragging the icon to the trash, and the problem occurs with both my usb flash drive and my external hdd.

They don't show up in disk utility...

If it was one of them playing up, then I would have said it's the formatting but two devices, hmmm. Try formatting the drives on the PC and then see if they can be made to work. You would then need to reformat to work on an apple computer after. If you can get hold of Disk Warrior run that and see if it'll fix the drives and if you haven't already tried, use different USB cables to see if it's the cables at fault. The only time I came across something similar was with my pals Mac Mini when the mother board went faulty but that affected the keyboard and mouse too.
