USB Tethering Kernel Panic MBP

Recently picked up a low end 2011 13" MBP, ever time I USB tether using TetherMe 20.9 I almost instantly get a kernel panic.

This happened on 10.6.6 and 10.6.7.

Anyone else having a similar issue?

There is an apple discussion thread on this, but have yet to see a solution.
