My friend has an iMac G5 and the ethernet port is broken. It is model PowerMac8,1. We looked up the usb to ethernet adapter that Apple has now, e.g. http://www.amazon.com/Apple-MC704ZM-A-Ethernet-Adapter/dp/B00486070K/ref=pd_cp_pc_0 and it says that it is for Macbook Airs, though in the comments people have mentioned that it works for everything. He was about to get one but when I started researching myself, I see reports of people talking about how they only work on MBAs after a certain OS version (something about Apple locking them down with the ROM chip or something based on either intel architecture or OS version or model or something). Obviously this is a PPC chip model... Does anyone know if this adapter for sure would work with a G5? If not, any suggestions on what would?

Doing some more research it looks like this one:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...mp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B0012P26ZO

can work so long as you use this driver:

Not sure if there is any difference between this adapter and the one I linked above in my first post, but I may just have him do this if no one responds otherwise

Check with Other World Computing - saw one there. Think I also saw one on Powermax.com.
