Hello all.

I just got my MBA and was wanting to know which is the least expensive Ethernet adapter.

I realize that the Thunderbolt adapter for $29 that Apple sells is the best one, but $29 for something I will probably NEVER use....

Also I was reading that MOST USB Ethernet adapters don't work OOB with OS X Lion, so does anyone have one that will.

It doesn't have to be gigabit, 100Mb wilb be fine as I will just throw the thing in the bag and probably never use it.

Thanks.

I have the Linksys USB300M, it works fine. I hear that people use the monoprice one just fine, and it's cheap.

USB2 to Ethernet will never get full 1000Mb/s, keep that in mind.

Here is a cheap USB2 to Ethernet 10/100Mb/s for less than $7. I use this one and it requires no installation, just plugin and use (tested in lion and mountain lion).

Then there is a USB2 to Ethernet 10/100/1000Mb/s for just under $19. This one requires some type of driver installation, not sure if it works in mountain lion.

Also check out monoprice's thunderbolt to hdmi, dvi, display port and thunderbolt to vga adapter. Great prices.

I went with the slower ethernet adapter because I figured I would wait till a USB3 to Ethernet 10/100/1000Mb/s adapter came out. That type of adapter will hit the full 1000Mb/s speed. Otherwise if you need a true 1000Mb/s Ethernet connection I recommend you get the Apple thunderbolt to Ethernet adapter, that will reach a true 1000Mb/s speed, just at the cost of the thunderbolt port.
