I purchased a Dynex USB to serial adapter at Best Buy today and I'm having a bit of trouble getting it to work on my Mac (running Leopard). I installed the driver and it shows up in System Profiler as follows:

USB-Serial Controller D:

Version: 4.00
Bus Power (mA): 500
Speed: Up to 12 Mb/sec
Manufacturer: Prolific Technology Inc.
Product ID: 0x2303
Vendor ID: 0x067b

However, I cannot access the serial port under any application software, and it does not show up in /dev (e.g. as ttyUSB or something similar). I know some Mac users have gotten this thing to work before, so any suggestions?

Thanks,
Jeremiah

I too would like to thank you for returning to post this information. Having just got my mac and trying to get this adapter work so I can use the tuning software for my car, this was a great find.

Thanks a lot. I found that Prolific (the company that makes the drivers) released a new driver update. It works for me.
