I didn't know where to post this, so I went with where I thought the most experience would be.
I turned off my Hackintosh due to iMessage being broken. It was causing communication problems with the family. I'd been using Hackintosh to enable multiple monitors on OSX. I knew I was always living on the "edge" with support, possible failure, etc. But a 2560x1600 monitor paired with a 1200x1600 monitor next to it is great.
I now have my 15" 2012 MacBook Pro connected to my 30" Dell via DisplayPort and the laptop open next to it for a second display. Not as nice as before, but OK.
I was looking for anyone with experience with the USB video cards that might enable me to turn up that 1600x1200 (rotated) monitor. I know I'll lose performance due to the USBness of it, but I really use it for static content (chat windows, my Sonos gui, etc).
I'm hoping to limp along this way until they release an updated MacPro to replace my Hackintosh.
Experience with any particular models and 10.8.2? Anyone?
