The wireless card in my 2008 MacBook Pro 4,1 is getting a little flakey & stops working after a while perhaps due to overheating although usually fixed with a reboot. I thought that it would be a simple matter to buy a cheap USB WiFi dongle but I am now on my third & none of them work with OS X 10.11.1 El Capitain. Even a Edimax dongle (AC450 akaEW-7711MAC) that is small, neat, matches the aluminium body & is claimed to be 'Made for Mac' doesn't work.

Does anyone know of a USB WiFi dongle that does work under El Capitain?

I've just had a response from Edimax support that they should have a driver for El Capitain in a month.

A long month:) I just had an email from Edimax & the El Capitain driver can be downloaded from here http://www.edimax.us/download/drivers/MAC/Edimax.dmg
Here is the user guide http://www.edimax.us/html/Faq/EdimaxWirelessUtility.pdf

One thing I only just realised is that this adaptor is 5GHz only so isn't a complete replacement for a dead WiFi card in a MBP as you cannot access 2.4GHz networks with the Edimax dongle. Other than that it appears to work OK.
