Hi,

Do you think that apple will release in october an usb3 version of the last macbook pro ?

More and more usb3 hard disks models are available whereas firewire ones are really hard to find now (in france).
And with Microsoft's decision to remove firewire supports on his upcoming WIndows 8 (http://translate.google.fr/translat...8-mauvaise-nouvelle-pour-firewire&sl=fr&tl=en) it's may be more and more difficult to find it :(

Thanks :D:)

Intel isn't adopting it to their chipsets yet so the only option is a discrete controller chip which doesn't seem likely

Does intel refuse to integer usb3 because of lightpeak ?
Shall we wait for a possible macbook pro with usb 3 or buy one now :/
Sandybridge plateform is coming next year, will it support usb3 ?

thanks :p

Yeah, I think it's mainly because of LightPeak even though it won't be available for mainstream any time soon. At least as far as I know, mainstream Sandy Bridge ("Cougar Point") does not have integrated USB 3, it needs another chip for that.

I would just buy now and then sell it and buy a new one when the USB 3.0 finally arrives

I don't think USB 3.0 will come to macs anytime soon...
USB 2.0 got introduced in 2000, the first mac with usb 2.0 was the power mac g5 from 2003. So it might take another 2 - 3 years for USB 3.0 to become mainstream ;)
