USB3 or Thunderbold External Hard Drive!

I just ordered my iMac 27" and i am planning to also get an external hard drive for storing video files for video editing. I also plan to store sound files for music production in this external hard drive.

Does anyone recommend any drive out there? and Would a USB 3 be good enough for video-editing via an external?

for my scratch disk whilst working on a project and archive it to a larger,cheaper, slower drive once done.

The drive at the moment in the uk at least is quite reasonably priced on the apple store.

I got this... It says 6 TB but I will set it up so 3 TB mirror eachother for backup. This price is really really good so I pulled the trigger on it.

And it is Thunderbolt.
