Use Apple Remote to Control Apple TV & MacBook Pro?

I watch a lot of TV shows and movies on my Mac (connected to my TV). But right under my TV is my Apple Tv. I want to know if there is a way, or i need a special app so that I can use my apple remote to control my mac when watching TV shows, but not mess with my apple TV when i use it to control my mac. when I pair the remote to my Mac and try to use it for apple TV its messes with my Mac volume. Do i need a 2nd Apple Remote so i have a seperate one for each?

You need two Apple Remotes. One that is paired to your Mac and the other paired to your AppleTV.

You could pair the Apple Remote to your Mac and then use the Remote App to control your AppleTV.
