Im currently driving a vehicle that doesn't support CarPlay/AA and it got me wondering. Why can't I put my iPhone in a holder, stick it on the dash and put it into CarPlay mode? Why do I need to attach it to a separate screen when the iPhone already has one? Sure the screen overall is a bit smaller but it could still have bigger buttons to match the same UI. Seems a bit complicated if you really sit and think about it.

Always wondered this myself but, you can always just use the iPhone the way it is with Siri to accomplish something similar. Listening to and responding to texts (announce with Siri… also if you ask Siri for your last text or unread texts, she’ll read them to you), making and answering calls, playing music, Maps directions, etc. I’m assuming this car at the very least has Bluetooth audio support. I barely, if ever use the touch screen on my car to interact with CarPlay.
