Use Dell Inspiron as Second Monitor for Macbook Pro Using DVI Connection

So I recently bought a 13" Macbook Pro. My past computer, a Dell Inspiron 1720, still works and I would like to use it as a second monitor. I already have a DVI connection between the two computers. Is there any way to do this with the direct DVI connection? I'd like to avoid using a remote connection program if possible.
