Use Flash Drive as External HD?

I am buying a new macbook air. I only have about 40 Gigs of stuff (movies, music, photos, and documents) that I want to transfer/save. Would it be ok to just get a 64 gig flash drive to store it all, so I can just put my music and movies and some photos on my new computer with that?

A flash drive is an external hard drive. It just used flash storage instead of a disk
