Use Gevey unlock in other country

I'm using and have updates my 4s successfully in Pakistan but when I went too UAE, my iPhone stopped detecting sim card. It seems this Gevey wouldn't work here. I'm stuck without my phone. Need to know how to get is back alive. Can I purchase a gevey which might work in UAE? Can I easily find in the market?
My phone is on UK network and unlock is pretty expensive.
