I have a 20" Imac (10.5.8 which has mini-dvi) which I have had for about 2-3 years. Last year I bought a 27" (10.6.7 which has a mini display port) is there any way to connect these and use the 20" as a second screen. If not what other ideas does anyone have that I could use the 20" for. Seems like a waste to sell it.

As the 20" has no video in, you are left with software solutions.
AirDisplay might work for you, it does for me and my MBP with a 20" iMac.

Screen on the 20" iMacs were horrible.
you may not even be able to view the screen well as a second one, viewing angles are really bad.

Thumbs up for AirDisplay. I use my MBA to extend my iMac. Still a bit buggy, but it's getting better.
