I cannot find applescript studio. Where is it? I do have developer tools installed

It's not an application, it refers to the combination of Xcode, IB, AppleScript and Cocoa together. I'd suggest using the link above, which contains tutorials you can use.

If you want to build a simple interface to something then AS+Cocoa is great.

Not so much if you want to build something huge but a project iSquint sized is alright.
