I lent a friend my 1Phone 1g for a few years and just got it back. I want to use its iPod function with an Alesis ProTrack recorder but the phone needs to be activated. Is there a way I can jailbreak the phone so I can download a recording app from my iTunes account and use the phone without a sim.

I did do a search but received nebulas info about this. Also am using G5 Mac with OS 10.5.8 and latest iTunes.

You dont need to activate your "1Phone" in order to download an app [I think]
unless its giving you that "Connect to iTunes" screen, then just connect it and register it as a new iPhone, but just dont activate it

Thanks for the reply. Tried to plug it in (showing connect to iTunes screen) but it says it's not going to do anything without a Sim and the only Sims I have are Micro Sims.

That should work. If not, the old Redsn0w tool will serve you well.

One quick question before I hit the Jailbreak button on Spirit. After I do that Will I be able to setup my iTunes account to load apps? Right now all it shows is the USB connector >> plug into Itunes symbol?

Thanks!

What I have done in the past is to borrow an activated SIM card and place it into the iPhone long enough for it to activate. Then you can pull the SIM out again and do whatever you want with it.

i don't see a reason why you shouldn't be able

all you're doing is bypassing the phone's need for having an actual carrier's sim inserted
