I'm going to Japan in a couple of months and was wondering if there were any downsides from buying one there except for no warranty.

iPhones bought from Japan will have the clicking sound every time you take a picture. There’s no way to turn that sound effect off even on silent.

No way really? Is that true lol. They should make the Siri talk, I am talking a picture for each click lol. Loud! You know for public safety.

That's fine Haha I don't mind the shutter noice. It was more in terms of bands but at first sight it was okay?

Besides the mandatory shutter sound due to exceptionally high number of perverts on trains, I don't think there is any difference - I don't know about the carrier lock situation though.
