hi.

i hope i am in the right place to ask this.

i would love to have a solution, to this problem. i have two macs, one with iTunes (too old to upgrade) and one with big sur.

i have my iTunes media (music) on an external drive.

i would love to use both interchangeably. meaning, if i connect the external drive to the old mac (still has a disc drive) (and import music from a cd), i would love to make this newly imported music on the newer mac (with the music app).

and say i delete a song or album (using the music app), the mac with iTunes would not show the deleted song or album (not having the song visible (but with an exclamation point).

any help would be appreciated. thanks.

You can still use iTunes with Big Sur.

There is a free utility out there called "Retroactive":
(scroll down a bit and you will see the "click to download" button)

Use this to install and run a modified version of iTunes on Big Sur.
(you'll probably have to "set up" iTunes to your liking all over again, but it will work).

I use iTunes for the free internet radio streaming feature (listening to it right now).
Music.app doesn't have this.

I hope the Retroactive developer is able to keep it going into the future...!
(It's still working fine on my developer copy of Monterey...)
