use macbook in the car

I have seen a few of the questions about ppl connecting their macbook to the car audio system I know how to do that but my question is can any damage come from using the macbook in the car?
I'm not gonna be driving my friend will but my macbook has such a huge library that we wanna use it for music while travelling
it will most likely be sitting on my lap the whole trip but is it safe to do?
might even use it for internet in the car since I have wireless
and maybe dvds so it won't be sleeping or going dark but just wanna make sure it will be fine
its a white macbook late 2009

and I used it in the car and every now and then mostly when we go over a bump it makes a clicking type sound is that normal?

That would be the Sudden Motion Sensor, that keeps the hard drive from being damaged by the drive heads striking the actual platters within with more force than the regular reading/writing of data.
