I've got a MacBook Pro. I've also got a turntable that I had hooked up to a bookshelf stereo system that I do not currently have the space required to set up.
I was wondering if MBP could be used in place of a receiver/amp (pre-amp? I'm not an audio junkie so not sure if I have the terminology right) so I could listen through my Bose Soundlink.
I'm having trouble discerning if this is possible because a lot of what I'm finding deals with hardware requirements for recording vinyl to MP3 and I don't want to do that; I just want to be able to listen to records without having to buy a pricey (and bulky) stereo receiver. I don't know if the requirements are the same.
I found something that indicated that a Behringer UFO202 might do the trick (and might not even require the MBP if you have a USB charger, which I do) but it wasn't real clear. I'm also not sure if that will supply the necessary power to listen at louder volumes.
Any direction is appreciated. Like I said I'm far from an expert so I could have the idea of this completely wrong.
