I’ve gotten used to my Apple Pencil with my iPad. Now I’ve got a MacBook Air “in the mail” and sure would like to be able to use my pencil with it. I’ve seen no references to both the pencil and the MBA in the same post. Is it possible to use them together?

I wish Apple made a (convertible) MacBook compatible with Apple Pencil directly, but yeah as Bigblur said, you can only do so indirectly with an iPad.

Thanks, BigBlur and subjonas. I was afraid it would not be as simple as “sure, just do this…”.

I was actually appalled when I learned the MBA wasn’t touch screen. That took awhile to adjust to. Heck, my giant 17” Dell laptop is touch screen so I was just sure the MacBook would be also - no brainer - right?

I'm sure someone will dig out Jobs' opinion on that... and for Apple's demographics, he might actually be still right.

The fact that Apple can year over year release mice that are only suitable for the severely hand/eye coordination challenged and have people be perfectly happy with it does seem to indicate that.

Heh.
I’ll prolly look into the Sidebar thing once I’m comfortable with the mental changeover from Windows. Ironically, back in 2000 I made the change from Mac IOS to Windows. Since my family had iPhones I then went that route, then iPad, then Apple Watch, then Apple wallet - only seems fitting and halfway intelligent to make the final switch to MBA.
