Hi, I just got the full size apple keyboard to use with my macbook. I kind of miss the trackpad, especially the gestures I added with multiclutch. On the up side, I have tons of unused function keys I'd like to use. But I can't get them to work, I just checked a tons of site and searched macrumours thoroughly.
So, I want to do the following : when I press F16, to do "command [". That way, I could navigate my tabs and pages all with my keyboard without having to press multiple keys, on top of having my hand closer to the mouse. Command option right arrow to switch tab is pretty much a killer compared to doing a "rotate left" on my trackpad.
I tried using "keyboard shortcuts" in the keyboard and mouse in system preferences. But it seems the function keys past F12 aren't recognized and when I use another key, Firefox still doesn't recognize the command. I tried mapping command [, witch should go back a page, the pane would go blue in the toolbar, but it wouldn't do the action. On top of that, switching tabs wouldn't be mappable and I'd like something that I can map in all my apps.
Anyone know of an app that goes in the System Preferences that does that, or a way to script it. I don't mind getting down and dirty and have to do an AppleScript or modify a system file. I'd just like to get pointed in the right direction.
Thanks, I know this does seem a lot of trouble to do so little but those f-keys are just starring at me
