I've sold a phone and my new one is delayed. I disconnected iCloud and wiped the phone before selling assuming I would still be able to receive calls and SMS from my phone number (not iMessage) on both my Apple Watch and Macbook Pro, but this doesn't appear to be the case.

I guess removing the SIM has caused my number to disconnect from Apple's services, is there a way I can get it back?

I can make and receive calls on my watch, but SMS and iMessage don't work. On my Macbook, iMessages work but no SMS and only Facetime calling.

Is there a way around this?

A phone number associated with a SIM card needs the SIM card installed in a smartphone to work.
