I have a iPhone, iPad, old iPods, and Kindles. I use my iPad charger with a USB extension cable ran to my nightstand, I plug the cable I want to use in the extension cable. I haven't had any problems charging but want to make sure this won't damage anything?

Not sure, but I do charge different usb devices with my iPad charger as well.

You want to use an extension cable between the AC outlet and the power adapter.

Using a USB extension cable to extend DC results in a voltage drop and isn't recommended for sensitive electronic devices.

It doesn't charge as fast as just a 3 foot lightning cable. Probably the distance with the extension? Not sure about it causing harm to your devices though

I would definitely use a AC extension cord instead. It's low power and that would be the right solution. A USB extension may work but can add a voltage drop and may be prone to breakage.

The best thing is no more at 1-2m cable from the charger to your nightstand.

Do that and you'll be fine.
