Used 2009 MBP HELP PLEASE.

Received early 2009 MBP today.Has 10.8 installed, but i have no discs.
What is the procedure to download 10.8 from the app store so i can register
it and update, i.e., do i need to erase the disc to download.
Also, i do have Leopard-Snow-L & Lion discs from previous MBP.
Should i simply re install an earlier OS up to Lion and be happy with that?
I'm not sure what OS early 2009 is, but it's obviously one of the above, and
if it's a viable option, is it easy to do. Installing an earlier OS from 10.8.
All ideas most welcome.

Hi,

you can go to the App Store, log in with your Apple ID, buy and download ML.

(you do not need to erase the disc).

When the download is completed, you will have an "Installer OSX Mountain Lion" in your App folder.

Create a bootable USB stick (8 GB min) with Lion DiskMaker or using Disk Utility (ask Google ;-) ).

Then, boot from the USB stick, launch Disk Utility, erase the (whole) disc, install ML.

Thus, you will run YOUR ML.

(you can use both a USB stick or a partition of an external hard drive (HFSJ, GUID partition table)).

Note that to run ML, you need 4 GB of RAM minimum.

As for the (grey) discs (10.5 or 10.6), you can use them ONLY if they came with the very SAME model of MBP.
