Hi everyone!

Ijust bought a used 15” MacBook Pro i7 2.2 from eBay. I’m well aware of the gpu issues from experience with my 2012 model. I planned on using dosdude1’s method to flash the gmux IC firmware. The laptop is in pristine condition and running super smooth. I was wondering should I wait until I run into gpu issues or just go ahead and flash it immediately? Do all the 2011’s gpu fail? Was hesitant to flash Incase I had one that happened to not be defective, what do u guys suggest?

I'd use it as is and only bother to fix it when it breaks.

The discrete GPU definitely improves performance on a lot of stuff.

Whilst i can't conclusively say they will ALL fail - it is a known manufacturing defect, and my personal 2011 did fail in mid 2015.

Thanks for the advice! Wonder if anyone here still has one that has yet to experience the failure. I use mine primarily for music production, my 2012 failed twice, I still have it, but when you power it on the green light comes on but doesn’t boot. No screen or keyboard lights.
