I have been looking for a monitor to use with my 2010 macbook pro, I am a graphic design student & artist, & looked at the 20 & 23 inch apple cinema displays on amazon for reviews & they got good reviews.

I like these older ones as they have the matte screen, I went to ebay to look for any deals, & people are crazy bidding all over the place for these, I tried to bid on about 2 now & lost in both these auctions, was outbid at the last minute. This seems to keep happening, the last auction I lost by $2.00 dollars, as I cant always just sit around at the auction all the time to watch for bidders, I have things to do.

But I have also read about other makes like Dell, they seem to be good as well, but I do like the durable aluminum & design of the apple monitors.

why are people bidding like crazy on these monitors? from the reviews on amazon, they seem to be about 3-5 years old. I guess they are bidding for some of the same reasons as me, but they are a bit older, & they are selling like hot cakes for $300.00+ or more dollars, even broken ones have multiple bids. I notice the ones that are a little less are usually missing the power brick (which are about $100.00 themselves) or have scratches on the screen, yet still have bids, who wants a monitor with scratches? To me 250.00 to 300.00 is about the limit for me as they are older & probably have had the best out of them, plus shipping is expensive as well, or perhaps they last a long time?

Is my luck or lack of luck so far on these auctions a sign that perhaps this is not the best option for me?
