I have the chance to purchase (2) used Apple Thunderbolt displays for $1400/pair. They have warranty until July 2014. Is this a good deal considering they are USB 2.0 and apple hasn't mentioned any new monitor coming out soon.

I f you keep an eye on this space,

they will come up for $799. Refurbs have a full 1 year same as new warranty. Thats only $99 more than you are being offered for used. I don't know if that makes it a good value. Sales tax might make a big difference if that affects your purchase. I suggest you counter with $1300 for the pair.

Apple monitors have historically been seen as standard bearers. If you had one you had made a good choice. The shiny LED monitors took all that away. Now they sell stuff to look nice as an object, not to perform as a tool. What will they come out with next? And when even? I wouldn't count on it being anything more than pretty. A 4K monitor? Apple hasn't figured out interface scaling. A retina display? Then its just HD in usage.
