I am waiting for the new MBP 13/14 this year, while seating with my 2012 Retina MBP 13".
I do have 8gb ram, but it is not enough sometimes for me. So i am going to order custom base with 16gb ram of new MBP 13 when it shows up.
That will leave me with $1379+tax = almost $1500. But also free Beats headphones, which i will sell.
Then I thought, why not consider used MBP 16 for around $1500-2000 depends on configuration.
Use case: I know that 3-4 times in a year, I will push the limits with editing video, bootcamp storage and MBP 16 would be preferable. But also i might end up working all day/night, so i won't be playing with personal laptop anyway.
Why not buy new MBP 16? I can't justify spending extra money for extra power, which i would need only 3 times in a year.
Why not new Air? There is not so much of a difference in terms of display, performance in comparison to my current Mac.
Which one would you pick?
