Just restore it.

Enable disk use, and open it up in the Finder and see if there are any files stored on the drive. If anything, you may as well just restore it.

i tried restoring it and it was unable to work is it possible to have a virus through one of the songs

Yea, I've never heard of something like that before. If even after restoring you're having problems, take it over to Apple; see what they say. Might get lucky and maybe it's something they can fix for you right there, nice and easy.

Virus on a song? - No, as everyone else said maybe a problem with the ipod, take it into apple yuo may get lucky

when i had my 3g ipod using win 98 when i tried to sync all my songs it got messed up when it came to a certain song and would stop syncing... when i deselected that song to be synced it worked fine... so maybe

A corrupted file isn't a virus...
