As a test I copied a working avi movie from my PC to my Mac. The PC can play the AVI in VLC (but not in QT) and the Mac can play the AVI in QT.

I then used VideoDrive to convert the AVI to MOV using import method 3. My Mac plays the new video correctly, with sound, in iTunes. It also plays on a MBP via iTunes shared library.

The PC sees the shared video in Itunes but when I click play, nothing happens.

Any ideas on what I can do to fix this, whether its a different way of converting or a new program? I want to import 1TB of video files, but I need a working solution first.

Try converting to mp4 or m4v. It will play in iTunes on both the PC and Mac. I use Handbrake on the Mac. Works like a charm.
