Right now I have an iPod Photo (4th Gen) it has a 30Gb hard drive. I was thinking if it is possible to open the iPod and grab the hard drive and use it as an external hard drive. Is this possible, also do they sell hard drive cases that are compatible with the hard drive model?

Thanks in advance.

The answer to your questions is most likely yes, but why? In disk mode, the iPod becomes an external hard drive all on its own (at no further cost).

idk why you would want to do this, you can just plug your ipod in and use it in disk mode and drag whatever you wanted on to it, but external drive enclosures do exist for 1.8 inch drives... hear is a link to one

but then again i cant remember if the 4th gen 30GB drives were those multi platter thick ones witch would not work with the enclosures because of their thickness...i think they were
someone correct me if im wrong though...
